The whole world only talks about it: ChatGPT. But what the hell is that? Well, first, let me ask you a question here: have you ever thought about interacting with robots? I’m talking about real robots, not chatbots. Well, the time has come for that to happen. ChatGPT is a technology by Open AI, using Generative Artificial Intelligence (AGI) that is fast and very, very smart.

It generates texts written in an autonomous, natural, coherent way, with an introduction, development and conclusion, as if it had been written by humans. And the range of subjects is endless. Some CEOs are using it to compose emails. Students, to prepare theses for college. These days I asked ChatGPT to teach me how to make Neapolitan pizza – he doesn’t just give me the recipe, he teaches me how to make it, in great detail. It turned out excellent.

My fun is asking countless questions, asking to describe images, creating captions, scripts. No, no, this text was not made by ChatGPT, because it is almost perfect – it still can’t think for me, in some insights – YET. Fear, right? But what is bizarre is that he reproduces the context of a dialogue, understand what was said, respond, all with relevance.

But, Rodrigo, how does this work? Open AI, which owns the whole thing, used a technique called “transfer learning”, that is, the first model was trained in specific tasks such as predicting the next word in a text, from understanding the meaning of the words and phrases, to later be adapted for tasks such as answering questions or creating stories. It was designed based on an architecture called “transformer”, which includes layers of attention and language processing to understand the meaning of words in the input text and thus autonomously generate the output text.

As Innovation is intrinsic to any use of AI, this model is continuously improved to increasingly benefit countless other sectors.

I spent a morning discussing with my marketing team what’s next for ChatGPT: is this the end of google? Will they charge for usage? Will we have voice command soon and will he be our Alexa? With Microsoft investing BILLIONS, what can we expect?

And among the different questions, we come to a point: what is the relationship between ChatGPT and asset management? Because we found a correlation and what future of this union. And that will be our next newsletter.
